What is a Super Visa?
A super visa allows an individual to visit their child or grandchild in Canada for a period of upto 2 years. Eligible visa holders are granted a multiple entry visa valid for 10 years.
Super Visa Eligibility
Who can apply for a Super Visa?
Super visa applicants must:

be a parent or grandparent of a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

provide a signed letter of invitation from their child or grandchild confirming financial support during the applicant's stay.

provide proof of funds from their child or grandchild.

provide proof of medical insurance that is valid for 1 year from the arrival date.

take a medical exam by a panel physician.
Including Dependents on Super Visa
Can the applicant (parent or grandparent) include a dependent on their Super Visa application?
Applicants cannot include a dependent on their Super Visa application. This means that the parent or grandparent applicant cannot include their own child on the Super Visa application.
The dependent can however, apply for a Visitor Visa or eTA and if approved, enter and remain in Canada for a period of upto 6 months.

What's the difference between a Super Visa and a Visitor Visa/eTA?
A Visitor Visa is a 10-year multiple entry visa that allows you to visit and remain in Canada as a a tourist for upto 6 months at a time. Anyone can apply for a visitor visa.
A Super Visa is a 10-year multiple entry visa that allows you to remain in Canada for upto 2 years at a time. Only parents or grandparents of a Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada can apply for a Super Visa.
